Generally, accomodation can be let only to students of the Universities being in the field of competence of the AKAFÖ.
Furthermore, rental is possible for other authorised parties, if the demand situation allows it:
The AKAFÖ hostels are basically let only to students of the Universities being in the field of competence of the AKAFÖ, in order of arrival of the application (waiting list). The residential area is subordinately let to other authorised parties.
Applications can be submitted with the AKAFÖ
Your application will be stored for 12 months from the date of application. After this period, the application will be automatically deleted, unless you update it prior to the expiry of this period. If no update of the application follows within the period of 12 months, a new application is required. The waiting period referring to the expired application is hereby not considered.
An application for relocation within the AKAFÖ student residential complexes may be submitted first after 6 months of rental period. Regardless of the waiting list, please consider the waiting time of 6 months. As a rule, the application for relocation may be filed only once within the rental period. In case you move within the AKAFÖ residential complexes, the previous rental period is also taken into account as far as the whole rental period is concerned.

Subletting is categorically excluded, unless the exceptions provided in the following passages apply:
You may offer your room for subletting via the platform www.housinganywhere.com. The platform is free for the students of the RUB using the email address @rub.de. Exchange students searching for a room in Bochum also use this platform so that you will easily find a subtenant there.

Tenants who have already lived in a residential complex of the AKAFÖ, are allowed to apply again for a lodging area if the maximum rental period has not been exceeded on the date of relocation. As to the contract terms, the previous rental period is also taken into account upon conclusion of the contract.
