Just how important is your own place to stay, your own four walls? Above all, if you're
returning from a hectic and stressful day of university lectures. But to have your own
flat is often expensive, and far beyond anything students can finance. The around
180,000 places in halls of residence provided by the 61 student groups throughout Germany
offer a convenient and yet popular alternative. The student accommodation situation has
become less tense over the past few years, while the range of accommodation on offer has
continually grown. Nevertheless, the situation at many universities and colleges remains
difficult. In many cities it is almost impossible to find inexpensive accommodation
within a short time. Bochum is one such city. The AKAFÖ provides around 4,500
accommodation places in 19 halls of residence. You can find all the important information
for this as well as an online application form under "Our services".
