In emergency cases (e.g. water ingress, accidents) you can reach the emergency service day and night.
The deposit is at least 680€ and must be paid before moving in. Depending on the type of accommodation, the deposit payment may be higher. The deposit is a collateral security charged for the implementation of obligations and/or for damage claims. No interest is paid on the deposit (acc. to 551 p. 3 of the German Civil Code); it will be returned approx. 8 weeks after termination of the rental agreement – providing that there are no claims from the landlord.
The regular termination period is two months. There is an exception, i.e. a three-month termination period for the publicly funded accommodation (Buscheyplatz) and is possible either by the 15th or by the end of month. The notice of termination must be submitted in written form. Not the day of dispatch, but the day of receipt by the landlord is decisive for deadline calculation.
